This course concentrates on theory and pragmatic application of communication principles in small groups. From this course, you should develop an understanding and an ability to effectively participate in groups in a variety of settings.

Topics will include: group formation, development of goals, group maintenance, group power structures, leadership, goal completion, and group dissolution. By applying principles learned in class, you should increase your ability to understand, work in, lead, and evaluate groups.

Class activities will include lectures and discussion of small group theory and (perhaps most importantly) actual participation in group projects.

評価方法: 50% of your grade will be based on attendance, active participation in the group project, and the project grade. The other 50% of your grade will be assessed on the individual level and will be based on written assignments related to applying small group concepts to group experiences. Three unexcused absences will result in lowering your final course grade by 10%. Excessive tardiness (two times equals one absence) will also result in lowering your grade.

テキスト名: No textbook will be required. Lectures and activities will be supplemented by handouts and other material supplied by the instructor.
