Autumn term - How often does a landmine claim a new victim? Why do diseases such as mad cow disease or bird flu exist? Can you imagine what life is like on a factory farm for the animals that become our food? Who controls the TV stations and newspapers where your news comes from? These are just some of the questions we will investigate in our search to better understand the world that we live in. This class focuses on global issues that are neglected by the mainstream media outlets for whatever reason. Together this semester, we will learn about and discuss subject matter such as the media, land mines and cluster bombs, our meat supply and an effect of global consumerism. |
