If you had guests visiting Japan from a foreign country, where would you take them? How would you explain Japanese culture? This course is designed to help students learn how to explain Japanese culture in English. Students will learn how Japanese culture is portrayed in the world and described in English. Then, students will practice explaining various aspects of Japanese culture and their views on them. They will also be asked to take photos of what they find “Japanese” in their surroundings and to share the photos with the class. Throughout the course, students will develop research skills, critical thinking skills, and presentation skills. As a final project, students will collaboratively put together a presentation where they present what they have discovered and learned by participating in this course.
