This course will introduce you to Australia and will cover topics such as Australian History (convicts, the First Fleet, Gold Rush, Eureka Stockade, Bushrangers, ANZACS), 'Aussie lingo’and culture, famous places, famous people, music, animals, famous hauntings, among others. It is an integrated skills course and will help build on your communicative proficiency in English while being fun. There will be weekly readings and active discussion and participation on these is required. There will be two presentations in this course: * An individual research project, presenting your findings orally in class and submitting a written report. * A group presentation whereby the group will present on an Australian State/Territory to the class. There will also be a small amount of homework plus quizzes throughout the semester. |
