Through investigating how different people learn languages and examining the strategies of successful learners in real life situations, you will develop the skills to manage learning effectively. You will design and carry out your own personal learning plan, in which you control what and how you learn, with an emphasis on careful planning, regular analysis of your work, and effective evaluation of your progress.

On completion of the course you will be able to:
- Identify your needs and set appropriate goals
- Learn to apply strategies to help you achieve those goals
- Analyze your work and adjust it as necessary

This class will benefit you as you move beyond the university setting into the real world. It will be particularly useful for those students hoping to follow graduate studies in language and linguistics, become language teachers or those who want to improve their skills as life-long learners.
