On this course we will investigate the topic of International Human Rights (IHR). We will be looking at human rights issues from around the world. We will use a wide variety of media including books, newspapers, internet sites, music and film to explore the topic. Through participating in this course we will; - understand various definitions of human rights - understand the recent history of human rights - explore the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - investigate specific issues in international human rights today - look at human rights issues in modern Japan - research human rights issues from one of the ILC regional countries - examine critical issues in international human rights - learn how to analyse conflicts and disputes using a human rights framework - look at the language of human rights in English - understand the role of English in the international human rights movement
