This course focuses on a daily Internet podcast titled, "The Writer's Almanac Podcast". You may find the podcast at the following web address: http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/ Each podcast is 5 minutes long and tells about important events in history. Additionally, each show contains a reading of one poetry selection. For most class sessions students will listen to one podcast program and complete activities connected to the historical information and poetry reading from the podcast. Additional class exercises may include: - Tests - Blogspot homework assignments - An end of semester power point presentation and video project - Instruction about basic foundations of poetry, poetry in music, supplementary poetry readings - Watching and commenting upon films connected to class themes- Il Postino (The Postman) / Dead Poets Society / Shakespeare in Love   In this class you will utilize listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities, and be exposed to history and culture in the English language.

評価方法：

- PPT/Video Presentations: 20% - Attendance and Participation: 20% (unexcused absences = -3 points) - Movie Review Activities: 30% - Tests: 30% (Tests may be completed in groups, however you must complete all homework assignments to take tests with your group members. / Incomplete blogspot activities are -10 points of your test grade.) (Late assignments may be completed late with the teacher’s permission, points may be reduced for late work.)
