On this course we will investigate the topic of International Human Rights (IHR). We will be looking at human rights issues from around the world, including the countries of your regional language (Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam). We will use a wide variety of media including books, newspapers, internet sites, music and film to explore the topic.
Through participating in this course we will;
- understand various definitions of human rights
- understand the recent history of human rights
- explore the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- investigate specific issues in international human rights today
- look at human rights issues in modern Japan
- research human rights issues from one of the ILC regional countries
- examine critical issues in international human rights
- learn how to analyse conflicts and disputes using a human rights framework
- look at the language of human rights in English
- understand the role of English in the international human rights movement

評価方法: Vocabulary Test (10%)
