This course is designed as a survey of English-speaking countries around the world including England, Ireland, Scotland, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and others. Students will acquire background knowledge (history, economy, geography) and discuss different aspects of culture related to the country.
In the TESW class, students will focus on discussion and critical thinking skills. Although there are not many assignments to be handed in, each student will be expected to participate in all discussions and think deeply about the topics. Roundtable discussions (5 or 6 students per group) will make up the greatest percentage of the final grade. Each student will be responsible for acting as discussion leader (at least twice) and will hand in a written summary as well.
