In this class we will learn and practice our listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar language skills in unusual ways.  Although much of our work will take place in the realm of the imagination (including help from stories like Alice in Wonderland and clips from movies like Spider-Man), we will always keep a focus on the real-life usefulness of our skills.  We'll see how language superpowers can help us solve mysteries and put the pieces of continuing stories together.  Expect to develop language learning strategies and to set goals for your own progress.  Homework will include journal entries and preparation for class presentations.

評価方法: Grades will be based on exams, preparation for class, participation, and presentations.

Students will be expected to:
-maintain high attendance, and come to class on time
-speak only in English in class.   Start speaking in English as soon as you walk through the door, and don’t stop until you walk out the door at the end of class.  English class is not just our class time, but also our classroom.  Let’s create an English-only environment, so we can all improve faster!
-do all class and homework assignments, and make up for any work missed due to absence (it is the students' responsibility to turn in late assignments)
-do all journal assignments and demonstrate ability to self-correct common errors
-demonstrate proficiency with listening, speaking, reading and writing strategies
-ask questions, respond to the teacher and other students, participate in pair and group work, take chances, help other students and have a positive attitude

テキスト名: There is no required text for this class.

注意事項: As soon as you register for this class, please send the instructor an e-mail (stillwel@kanda.kuis.ac.jp) to find out how to prepare for the first class.

This is not a good class for students who have problems with attendance and coming to class on time.  If you find that you have to miss a class, it is your responsibility to find out about the homework that will be due for the next class.  When you come to the next class, have the new homework finished so you are ready to participate with your classmates.  If you come to class without your homework, you may not be permitted to participate, and you may be marked absent for the day.
