This course focuses on a daily Internet podcast titled, "The Writer's Almanac Podcast". You may find the podcast at the following web address: http://writersalmanac.publicradio.org/ Each podcast is 5 minutes long and tells about important events in history. Additionally, each show contains a reading of one poetry selection. For most class sessions students will listen to one podcast program and complete activities connected to the historical information and poetry reading from the podcast. Additional class exercises may include: - Tests - Blogspot homework assignments - An end of semester power point presentation and video project - Instruction about basic foundations of poetry, poetry in music, supplementary poetry readings - Watching and commenting upon films connected to class themes- Shakespeare in Love  / Dead Poets Society /  Il Postino (The Postman) In this class you will utilize listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities, and be exposed to history and culture in the English language.

評価方法：

You are expected to attend class regularly, participate in class activities and complete all tests and assignments in a satisfactory manner. If you have 6 absences you will not receive credit for the course. Additionally, if you arrive to class more than 10 minutes after class begins you are late. A combination of three late arrivals to class will be considered an absence. ASSESSMENT - PPT/Video Presentations: 20% - Attendance and Participation: 20% - Movie Review Activities: 30% - Tests (this includes completion of Blogspot activities): 30%
