Spring term - What is life like for sweatshop workers? Could a diamond be connected to human suffering? What do you really know about the food you eat? Who controls the TV stations and newspapers and what do they report in times of war? These are just some of the questions we will investigate on our journey to better understand the world that we live in. This class focuses on global issues that are neglected by the mainstream media outlets for whatever reason. Together this semester, we will learn about and discuss subject matter such as Agent Orange, sweatshops and what Fair trade means, GMOs in our food and how our personal choices can affect the world.

評価方法: Grading is based on assignments, quizzes, class projects, and the class forum.

テキスト名: There is no textbook for this class. Instead, we will use a variety of sources for each topic such as videos, radio news broadcasts, newspaper articles, magazine articles and selected pages from books. We will also use the Internet as a research tool and create an online class forum.

注意事項: While the class does have a lecture element, be ready to actively participate in class discussions and projects.
