This course will use movies as a basis for exploring various global issues. Some of the issues covered will include the Environment, Cross-cultural Communication, Technology and the Future, Global Trade, the Role of the UN, and others. Many of these topics were introduced to students in EIC2 or Media English and will be explored in greater detail with this course. It should be noted that this course is NOT simply about watching movies, but is more concerned with the issues that the movies present.
Students will have the opportunity to work on all language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) and further develop their critical thinking abilities. The primary assignments will include short written summaries following each topic and one group presentation.
