The IC Writing classes seek to improve students’ general writing ability in English. The class also aims to prepare students for timed essays required in the KEPT test and TOEFL exam. The first semester emphasizes development of general writing conventions such as essay structure, format, register, grammar, and appropriate use of content. The second semester continues to build students' skills in business letter writing, and strategies for conducting and reporting research. The basic approach utilized is in Writing I & II is process writing: pre-writing, drafting, reviewing (peer editing & reflection) and revising. Themes and topics for writing content are drawn from EIC1 and Reading classes.
