| This seminar will consider the connection between language, culture, and communication. Taking a discourse analysis approach, we will examine how written and spoken language is used in a variety of contexts. Then we will consider the use of language for communication across cultures, including translation from one language to another. These issues will be discussed primarily as they relate to English and Japanese. |
