This course is for the non-Japanese students of the IC Department who (1) have had no/little previous experience learning English, or (2) are assigned to this course after taking the English Program for Foreign Students (EPFS) placement exam in late March.
Classtime is divided into 5 koma per week of textbook-based instruction (including pronunciation), and 1 koma per week of Independent Study. During the Independent Study sessions, students will set their own English learning goals and work on their own learning plans.
The objectives of this course are to help students:
- acquire a basic understanding of English
- communicate in/use English in various contexts/topics
- become better and more active English learners
The instructor will use both Japanese and English to support the students as needed.
