How can you help improve the quality of your and other peoples' lives? How big is your ecological footprint on this earth? Is that sustainable? What about other students, teachers and staff? Is there a need to change our lifestyles for a more sustainable, peaceful future? What could or should we be doing differently in our daily lives?

This course aims to look at your role in the future of this planet and to help you to develop your values and beliefs to understand the kind of world you want to live in. It starts with you but aims to also consider your fellow students, KUIS, the local community, then spread out and involve the regional (Chiba), national (Japan), Asian and global levels. We will investigate ideas of sustainable development, taking an active, research-based approach towards the subject.

You may say "but what can we do in 13 weeks?" Well, LET'S FIND OUT!

By the end of the course you will :

have a wider understanding of sustainable development issues through looking at case studies on a local and global scale

be able to explain the links between peoples’ actions and the consequences of these
actions

be capable of evaluating management solutions to these problems and exploring your own solutions and ideas to promote sustainable development

develop your understanding of how the decisions you make influence your and other peoples’ lives

テキスト名: You will not need to buy a textbook for this course:)

注意事項: If you are the kind of person who wants to DO something rather than talk about doing something, then you're the kind of student that I'd love to have on this course. We will be researching through interviewing all members of the KUIS community and hopefully those outside KUIS too, so you'll need to be energetic and enthusiastic.
