IC Reading I and II seek to develop and maintain skills and strategies related to extensive and intensive reading and critical thinking. Course content provide students with information (social, economic, historical, cultural etc.) about countries discussed in the textbook as a means to promote international understanding. Reading skills and strategies developed throughout the course include skimming and scanning text, pre-reading, using dictionaries, and developing questions derived from course content. In addition to reading the textbook, the students also do extensive reading of graded readers.
