This course is for the non-Japanese students of the IC department who have completed Beginners English, or who are assigned to this course after taking the English for Foreign Students Program Placement Exam (in late March).
Class time is divided into 3 koma per week of textbook-based instruction and 1 koma per week of Independent Study. During the Independent Study lessons, students will set their own English learning goals and work on their learning plan.
The objectives of the course are to help students (1) acquire a basic understanding of English (2) communicate with and use English in various contexts (3) become better English learners through self-directed study.
The instructors will use both English and Japanese to support the students as needed while working on speaking English in class. However, students are expected to use/speak English as much as possible in class.
