| In this class we will learn and practice our listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar language skills in the context of what they can empower us to do. Homework will be assigned for every class, including journal entries, readings from literature, and preparation for class presentations. Although much of our work will take place in the realm of the imagination (including help from stories like Alice in Wonderland), we will always keep a focus on the real-life usefulness of our skills. We'll see how language superpowers can help us solve mysteries and put the pieces of continuing stories together. Expect to develop language learning strategies and to set goals for your own progress. |

Grades will be based on exams, preparation for class, participation, and presentations. Students will be expected to: -attend all classes, and come to class on time -do all class and homework assignments -do all journal assignments and demonstrate ability to self-correct common errors -demonstrate proficiency with listening, speaking, reading and writing strategies -ask questions, respond to the teacher and other students, participate in pair and group work, take chances, help other students and have a positive attitude |
