EIC1 assists students in becoming effective users of English in the international environment. EIC1 emphasizes experiential learning as a means of developing learner autonomy. Throughout the course, students learn to identify and evaluate their own language learning strategies, set their own learning goals, and evaluate their progress. During the first semester, EIC1 introduces students to linguistic content as a basis for understanding and discussing how language learning works and helping students identify their language learning strategies. In the second semester students explore course content related to World Englishes, travel, ecotourism, etc. as a means of understanding and developing their language learning strategies further.
