| This course is designed to examine how friendship has been depicted and expressed in examples of American literature for the last two centuries. Special attention will be given to some prominent changes in the consciousness of how to distinguish friendship from love, for example. Readings from works by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Kate Chopin, Mark Twain, Alice Walker, and Michael Cunningham will be carefully explored. |
