During the course, students will learn about a number of Asian countries in regard to their history, culture, tourism locations, tourist activities, visa requirements and so forth. The course will provide students with the opportunity to study English while learning content on this topic. Students will engage in note-talking activities from lectures, quizzes, planning itineraries and discussions of issues concerning each of the countries.

評価方法: 30% Two-week detailed travel itinerary
30% Eight quizzes on teacher's lectures
20% Group lecture/powerpoint presentation on travel in one Asian country
20% Poster presentation of package tour in Asia

注意事項: All students should be prepared to talk in this class. Many activities centre on group discussions, debates and other group activities. No experience of travelling in Asia is necessary.

1. Week One. Introduction to the course
2. Week Two. China: Lecture and note-taking quiz 1, train travel reading, travel video (Lonely Planet China)
3. Week Three. Vietnam: Lecture and note-taking quiz 2, sight-seeing reading, travel video (Lonely Planet Vietnam)
4. Week Four. Planning a travel itinerary: Skim-reading practice, information search practice, using an English guidebook.
5. Week Five. Cambodia and Vietnam: Lecture and note-taking quiz 3, reading for information, looking for accommodation, study of Lao customs.
6. Week Six. Thailand: Lecture and note-taking quiz 4 and 5, travel video (Lonely Planet Thailand), Responsible tourism debate.
7. Week Seven. Myanmar: Lecture and note-taking quiz 6, budgeting for an extended trip, study of Aung San Syu Kyi.
8. Week Eight. India: Lecture and note-taking quiz 7, Indian customs, India travel video (Lonely Planet India)
9. Week Nine. Nepal: Lecture and note-taking quiz 8, planning a trek in Nepal, promoting a trek in Nepal.
10. Week Ten. Travel Itinerary Due: Promoting a trip to Asia.
11. Week Eleven. Student Presentations: Hong Kong, Taiwan and Tibet. One-China policy debate.
12. Week Twelve. Student presentations: Singapore and Malaysia. Examination of Singapore's unique population, video of Malaysian festivals.
13. Week Thirteen. Student presentations: Korea and Mongolia. Mongolian customs, planning a travel itinerary for Korea.
14. Week Fourteen. Student presentations: Choice of southern India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Phillipines, Brunei etc
15. Week Fifteen. Conclusion to the course: Class quiz on all countries covered in student presentations.
