The course has two objectives: to instil an interest in (and hopefully a passion for) classical music, and to help students improve their English through an exploration of this fascinating topic. The course will have several stands, including history (the major periods of Western Classical Music), biography (the lives of the most important composers) thematic exploration, and musical genres. Above all, the course will encourage students to respond expressively and emotionally to the music they encounter. |

There is no "musical skills" requirement for this course; you do not need to know how to read music or play an instrument (though you are welcome to join the class if you do have these skills!). What you do need is a passion for music (in general) and/or a passion for finding out about the world of classical music. |
