This course will be interesting and fun. It will build upon the religion unit in EIC 2. It will begin by exploring the concept of religion and belief. It will then explore the religions introduced in EIC 2 in greater depth. Finally, it will explore some of the smaller, newer religions making news in the world (e.g. Scientology). The class will also explore some of the “hidden” aspects of these religions. Students will continue their studies of English (especially vocabulary) through readings in the text book, current news stories, and religious texts. Videos, guest speakers, group discussions, and presentations will also help students understand the topic, while offering a chance to practice English listening and speaking. This class is a great chance to explore a fascinating topic in an open, fun environment and continue to hone your English skills.
