This course concentrates on developing skills in effectively presenting yourself and your ideas in public settings in English. From this course, you should learn how to organize your ideas appropriately for various speaking situations and present them confidently in English to others. The course will consist primarily of delivering speeches. Class activities will include lectures on how to prepare speeches, discussion of appropriate topics, presentation of speeches, and "post speech" discussion of each speech given. While topics should be chosen according to individual interest, special attention will be placed on developing the ability to communicate about your own culture publicly in English. |
評価方法: | Since giving presentations and participating in presentations of others in class is essential, your grade will be based on attendance, active participation, and completion of all speeches. There will be no written examinations. Three unexcused absences will result in lowering your final course grade by 10%. Excessive tardiness (two times equals one absence) will also result in lowering your grade. |
テキスト名: | No textbook will be required. Lectures and activities will be supplemented by handouts and other material supplied by the instructor. |
