現代英語の文法を概観する。断片的知識を積み重ねるのではなく、言語学的観点に立った、より大きな視野から、英語という言語の仕組みの体系的な把握を目指す。言語現象の背後にある規則性を捉える訓練を通して、文法は覚えるものではなく、考えるもの、理解・発見するものであるという点を知ってもらいたい。中学・高校で「勉強」してきた英文法を新しい視点で再発見してもらえればと思っている。

評価方法： 成績は中間試験と期末試験の成績に基づいて判定する。

テキスト名： Kunihiko Imai, Heizo Nakajima, Shigeo Tonoike, and Christopher D. Tancredi, Essentials of Modern English Grammar, Kenkyusha, 1995

　 毎回テキストの該当箇所を予習してから授業に臨んでほしい。そのほうが授業から得られるものは大きいと思う。

注意事項： 「英語学概論」の単位を取得済みの者に限る。
