Students will learn about, investigate and discuss the ways in which people and nature are connected. The course will first focus on the way of life of pre-historic and primitive people, as this shows us how people originally interacted with nature. Next, we will study the impact of the modern world on nature, investigating several environmental problems. Finally, we will study different ways in which people are trying to solve environmental problems and live closer to nature.

1.People of the Stone Age: their lives, customs, diet, work and effect on the environment.
2.Historical attitudes to nature in different cultures: Europe, China, Japan and primitive societies, such as Australian Aborigines.
3.Environmental problems in the modern world: air and water pollution, greenhouse effect, deforestation, loss of biodiversity.
4.Natural alternatives to the modern world: energy, farming, communities and health.
5.The future for people and nature.
