| The focus of this class is on current issues in the world that are neglected by the mainstream media outlets. In this class you will learn about and discuss subject matter such as the environmental issue of deforestation, and the social and political issues of landmine proliferation, sweatshop labor, and more. The course will also focus on organizations that are associated with each topic. |

Instead, we will use a variety of sources for each topic such as, videos, radio news broadcasts, selected pages from books, and articles from a variety of sources. We will also use the Internet as a research tool and create an online class forum. |
