The goal of this seminar is to review current approaches to communication research and provide a forum for development of an approach in each student's area of graduate study. This course will concentrate on quantitative and qualitative methods as they fit within theoretical approaches to human communication study. Topics will include: Case Study Methods, Rhetorical Criteria, Linear Modeling, Experimental Design, Hypothesis Testing, and Statistical Models. Students are expected to behave with an attitude of scholarship and professionalism. Creativity in thought and inquiry is strongly encouraged. Students will be expected to share, ask questions about, and discuss the work of their colleagues.
