This course concentrates on theory and pragmatic application of communication principles in small groups. From this course, you should develop an understanding and an ability to effectively participate in groups in a variety of cultural settings but most especially in those which have an English speaking base. Topics will include: group formation, development of goals, group maintenance, group power structures, leadership, goal completion, and group dissolution. By applying principles learned in class, you should increase your ability to understand, work in, lead, and evaluate English speaking groups. Class activities will include lectures and discussion of small group theory and (perhaps most importantly) actual participation in a group project from formation to dissolution.
