You don't have to be a politician or a lawyer to debate. Almost every day you tell people your opinions and support these opinions with examples, and being able to speak clearly and persuasively is helpful for almost all occasions in life. In this course you will be introduced to the principles and practice of debate. You will explore the "art of argument" and you will research and debate new topics. This course will be taught by both a British and a Canadian teacher and we hope this will introduce you to different styles of debating and different cultural perspectives. We believe in the proverb " hear and forget. see and remember. do and understand" and so we will begin actual debating early on in the course.
