文法の特質とその獲得について考える

「英語統語論・」は「英語学概論」で概説した諸分野のうち、統語論（syntax）をさらに探求する科目であるが、「英語統語論」では、ことばの心理学的・生物学的基盤に重点を置く。主として英語を題材にして、人間という種の個体の脳に内在する言語能力の特質を探り、それを基盤にして、母語の言語獲得はどのようにしてなされるのかという難問に迫る。「親や周りの人が話しているのを聞いて覚えるのだ」といった「常識」ではおよそ説明のつかない不思議な特質を持ったことばの世界を発見するだろう。ことばに対する科学的な見方・考え方を身につけてもらえればと思っている。  

評価方法： 成績は中間試験と期末試験の成績に基づいて判定する。

注意事項： 「英語学概論」の単位を取得済みの者に限る。「現代英文法」も履修済みであることが望ましいが、絶対条件ではない。
