We will read about 630 pages (about 50 pages a week) to gain fluency and confidence in reading. We will discuss the characters and the events in the book to understand the story. We will also discuss a variety of jokes, humor, irony, and sarcasm as well as useful words and expressions in the story. 注意事項: It is recommended, although not required, that you read the first three books in the series, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban either in English or in Japanese translation before the first day of class. However, even if you have not read the first three books, you can still understand and enjoy the fourth book. The fourth book does not assume that you have read the first three.
