Harry Potter I

The goal of the course is to help you get used to reading English novels for pleasure. We will read one of the most popular English fiction of our time, the Harry Potter series. Perhaps, many of you have already read the first two books in the series or seen their movie versions: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Therefore, we will read the third book in the series: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This book has been extremely popular among not only children but also adults across the world. We will read about two chapters each week to help you gain fluency in reading. We will discuss the characters and the events in the book to understand the story. We will also discuss a variety of jokes, humor, irony, and sarcasm as well as useful words and expressions in the story. Through these discussions, you will learn to enjoy reading stories in English.
