Exploring the World of Media English

This course is basically geared not only to explore the fascinating world of English but also to learn and consider contemporary issues of the world. Through this course, the students have a wealth of opportunities to expose themselves to authentic news English and to get valuable information by watching ABC News, CNN News and BBC News clips. Based on the information thus obtained, students are expected to write reaction papers, discuss the issues related to themes, and present their ideas effectively. Also, on the last day, groups of students present news clips that they have produced as their final projects, which are evaluated by other students. Thus, the primary focus of this course is placed on developing students’ critical thinking skills through exploring the world of Media.
This course will be most valuable for those who have acquired at least upper-intermediate level proficiency and seek opportunities to get actively involved in discussions and presentations.
