International Affairs and the United Nations

This course aims to deepen knowledge and provide perspective about international affairs by focusing on the United Nations. We will study the basic objective, structure and functions of the UN, as well as contemporary issues facing the UN and the world. Students will be required to read the materials assigned, do oral presentations, and write a final-term paper. Presentations will be based on topics chosen from the textbook and additional research will be required.  

評価方法: Evaluation will be based on:(1)attendance,(2)class participation,
(3)oral presentations,(4)final paper.

テキスト名: Basic Facts About the United Nations, NY:United Nations, 2000.
Textbook and other materials are to be purchased.

注意事項: This will be an intermediate to advanced-level course. Background in international relations is strongly recommended. This will be useful for those interested in the United Nations Association Test of English (UNATE, Japan)(levels B,A, Special A) and for study abroad in international relations.
