Models in Intercultural Studies  (通年)

授業内容 This is a one-year course. The course aims at exploring the main models of intercultural studies, based on readings from classics like Adler, Banks, Barna, Barnlund, Bennett, Hall, Lewis, Ramsey, and Whorf. Different approaches to the study and understanding of culture and cultural characteristics will be presented. It will be shown how culture influences communication.

Richard D. Lewis, The Cultural Imperative, Intercultural Press, 2003
The basic textbook is that of Bennett`s but for reference short excertps from Lewis will also be used.
成績評価の方法
注意事項 The course is run in English, but comments or contributions in Japanese are also accepted. Grading is based on activity in class and individual presentations.
